First UMC is one of the most vital and energetic churches in Laramie, with a membership over 400 and weekly worship attendance of approximately 200. We offer two distinctly different worship styles: a traditional worship experience at 9:00 AM in our unique sanctuary, and a contemporary / praise service at 11:00 AM in our fellowship hall. Whether you prefer time-honored worship forms or energetic and upbeat music, First UMC has something for everyone!
Our children's Sunday School is second to none, with graded classes at 9:00 AM each Sunday between Labor Day and Memorial Day. We use the latest and most Biblically grounded curriculum available, featuring a DVD segment with energetic music and information relevant to the day's lesson.
We also have social activities for families with Movie Night twice each year, a Halloween carnival with proceeds going to UNICEF, and a Christmas program. Movie Night features a new release shown on a big screen in our fellowship hall, preceded by a pot-luck dinner! Kids are welcome to bring sleeping bags, PJs, etc ... and camp out on the floor (covered by carpet!) as they enjoy the family appropriate movie.
On July 1, 2008 First UMC will welcome new pastoral leadership in Rev. Jeff Rainwater and Rev. Laura Easter Rainwater. This young clergy couple brings another burst of energy and enthusiasm to an already dynamic and growing ministry.
The people of First UMC invite you to sample the many ways that Christ is reaching out to the people of Laramie through this unique outpost of God's Grace. For 140 years the people of First UMC have served Jesus Christ with hands, feet, heart, and soul! There is a place for you at First UMC!
First UMC is located at 1215 Gibbon St. between Gibbon and Harney, approximately two blocks west of 15th St. Childcare by paid, trained adults is provided for all worship services, studies, and fellowship events.
